This time of year always reminds me of the importance of family, so I wanted to share some portraits of a family that is very near and dear to my heart. These were taken about a month after Orson was born, and he has grown even more since then! He is incredibly lucky to have such amazing parents, and they are just as lucky to have him. So much love for the Knox family.
Maggie is the founder of a financial coaching company and needed some fresh portraits for her business, so a couple weekends ago we would have been seen crisscrossing through Del Ray finding micro jungles and gardens for backdrops. It was a hot July day, so we started our adventure with coffee and tea from Swings and then I proceeded to put Maggie in flowers for the rest of the morning. And I’m so grateful that she did… take a look at her beautiful portraits for yourself!

I was so fortunate to take some portraits of the Copp family a couple weekends ago, on a gorgeous November afternoon at Green Hill Winery. The venue was absolutely beautiful and we picked the perfect day to catch Virginia’s fall foliage in its prime! This family is full of warmth, silliness, and fun, which was such a pleasure to photograph.
At the end of March, B and I and a couple friends embarked on an amazing trip to Costa Rica. Our reason for the trip was our friends’ wedding in San Jose, but we decided to make a little vacation out of it. We stayed at the Coutyard Mariott San Jose Escazu, walked to Bulali for breakfast, explored downtown San Jose, and drank a lot of coffee.

2015 was an amazing year full of travel, events, friends, and family, and was also the first year with my Fujifilm X100T. I have been slowly learning the craft of photography, toting my little fuji friend along with me wherever I go, and I have selected a few of my most favorite images from this year to share with you.

The last leg of our Morocco trip was a quick stop in Paris. My mom and grandparents who have friends in Montmartre, so we were able to visit them before heading back to the U.S. The gloomy weather in Paris was a drastic change from the warm and sunny days we saw in Morocco, but the grey skies created a kind of calm peacefulness. 24 hours in Paris was not enough, so I will be plotting my return in the near future…
I was able to shoot an engagement session for the very first time with my friends Sam and Kyle a few weeks ago. Kyle proposed to Sam in May at Delaplane Cellars – a winery in Virginia – so they wanted to recreate their special moment for their photographs. Bryan joined me on the adventure, and we all met on an uncharacteristically cool day in August for a picnic and a little wine. Sam and Kyle are not the pose-y type, so we kept it casual and fun with a lot of jokes and laughter. It was a perfect afternoon!
My dear friend and colleague, Jen, asked me to photograph her best friend Dara’s baby shower at the end of August. I have been welcoming every opportunity to work on my photography skills , so I was incredibly excited to capture the sweet details of this jungle-themed shower and portraits of the mom-to-be, her friends, and family.
